Awesome Features

Model S is designed to be the safest, most exhilarating sedan on the road.
Here are a few awesome features of a Tesla Model S.

17 inch Touchscreen
The gem of the interior is the 17 inch touchscreen, which is angled toward the driver and includes both day and night modes for better visibility without distraction.

The touchscreen controls most of the car's functions. Opening the all glass panoramic roof, customizing the automatic climate control, and changing the radio station all happen with a swipe or a touch. The touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, and steering wheel controls seamlessly integrate media, navigation, communications, cabin controls and vehicle data.

Model S periodically receives over the air software updates that add new features and refresh the touchscreen look and feel.
Autopilot
Autopilot dramatically improves the convenience and enjoyment of road trips and your commute by automatically piloting Model S at highway speeds and in stop-and-go traffic. It allows Model S to steer within a lane, change lanes with the simple tap of a turn signal, and manage speed by using active, traffic-aware cruise control.

Digital control of motors, brakes, and steering helps avoid collisions from the front and sides, and prevents the car from wandering off the road. The Summon feature lets you "call" your car from your phone so it can come greet you at the front door in the morning.

Real time feedback from the Tesla fleet ensures the system is continually learning and improving upon itself. Autopilot features are progressively enabled over time with software updates.
Single gear transmission
With an electric motor, instant torque is available at any RPM. The wide torque band, particularly the torque available at low RPM, eliminates the need for gears - Tesla Model S has only a single speed gear reduction; one gear ratio from zero to top speed. Switch two of the phases (this can be done electronically), and the motor runs in reverse. No need for a reverse gear.

Not only is this design incredibly simple, reliable, compact, and lightweight, but it allows a unique and exhilarating driving experience. Tesla Model S accelerates faster than most sports cars and whether driving on windy mountain roads or cruising down the highway, there's always instant torque. P90D is getting a top speed of 250 km/h.
Regenerative braking
Regenerative braking is the conversion of the vehicle's kinetic energy into chemical energy stored in the battery, where it can be used later to drive the vehicle. It slows down the vehicle and it recaptures the energy in the battery where it can be used again.
Front trunk
Tesla simplifies and shrinks the drive train down to a couple motors which means the typical engine compartment is now nearly completely free for use.

Thanks to that, Tesla Model S has a big front trunk compartment, where you can put your belongings. Similarly, the back trunk and interior space are also gigantic, by comparison, to typical gasoline cars.
Automatic parking
Model S can park itself, eliminating the need for drivers to worry about complex and difficult parking maneuvers.

When driving at low speeds around city streets or parking lots, a "P" will appear on the Instrument Panel when the Tesla detects a parking spot.

The Autopark guide will appear on the touchscreen along with the rear camera display, and, once activated, the car will begin to park itself by controlling the steering and vehicle speed.
Low center of gravity
Built on the Tesla platform, the battery's location on the floor gives Model S an extremely low center of gravity, greatly reducing the risk of rollover while at the same time enhancing handling and performance. No other production car has a more ideal placement of mass for optimal handling.

Active Air Suspension
The "Active Air Suspension" on the Model S allows to adjust vehicle height for better handling, ride comfort, efficiency and increased range depending on the speed and location.

Using the touchscreen, you can raise or lower your Model S when entering a steep driveway, navigating snow, or unloading passengers and belongings. It is also helpful when you are trying to open the door while parked next to a high curb or when you are driving on a bumpy road.

Using GPS location detection, Model S will remember and re-apply manual settings automatically.
